NBA props for Thursday, Feb. 8: Porter has treys on tap

Put your hand up if you saw Detroit waltzing into Sacramento last and winning by 13 as a +13.5 point underdog. I wish I had and had bet it, making some of these prop losses a little easier to swallow. It has just been one of those seasons.

Last night was just a 1-3 showing, thanks to Immanuel Quickly landing right on the number we needed. RJ Barrett showed out too in a win for Toronto, but he could not beat Miles Bridges.

There are nine games on the schedule tonight including some beauties. Minnesota is in Milwaukee, the Nuggets are at the Lakers and the Mavericks are at the Knicks. Lots of storylines and star players in all of those games.

Results to Date: 84-140, -246.8 Units (made a dent yesterday)

NBA Props for Thursday, Feb. 9

Aaron Nesmith has more Three Pointers than Klay Thompson (+115)

Times are changing. I like this one because with the trade of Buddy Hield today there is even more opportunity for Nesmith with Indiana. He is making 47% of his shots from deep at home this season and his volume should go up. Conversely, Thompson is not as much of a factor with the Warriors. He still has "those" games but not with as much regularity.

Anthony Edwards More Points that Giannis Antetokoumpo (+215)

Fading Giannis is not a way to make money. However, I did some homework and he has averaged just 23 ppg when facing a team with Rudy Gobert in the middle. There is just one data point for this with Gobert in Minnesota, and while it was a triple-double for the Greek Freak, he only scored 26 points and they put him to the line 20 times (he made 10). Anthony Edwards is going to have to have a strong game for sure to beat the Milwaukee star. Edwards has scored  32 and 38 points in his last couple of games. This is worth a shot.

Michael Porter Jr. Over 2.5 Three Pointers Made (+114)

The Nuggets have not played the Lakers since back in October. MPJ only made a couple of shots from deep in that game, but made at least three in all four games against L.A. in the playoffs last season. He has also made at least three from deep in five of his last 10 games. The way he shoots it, this total at that payoff is always worth the risk.

Wendell Carter Jr. Over 13.5 Points (+120) Alt Line

This is a good spot for Carter. His scoring might be down for the season, but in his last 10 games, he is averaging better than 14 ppg, which is in line with career averages. Orlando is hosting San Antonio tonight and the Spurs like to play fast. Sure Victor Wembanyama might be a factor but the strength of Carter's game will make him a force on the offensive glass. He had 14 points on the road against the Spurs a week ago so there is good value here.
