18-year NBA veteran Al Horford and the Boston Celtics find themselves in a big hole as they chase back-to-back NBA championships.
Dropping their first two games of the second round at TD Garden, Horford and the Celtics looked to get back on track in Game 3 against the New York Knicks on Saturday as the series shifts to Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Horford has been making history through the first two rounds despite the losses, moving up numerous spots in the NBA's all-time postseason blocks list. He currently sits at 14th with 240 career blocks (prior to Game 3), just behind Orlando Magic legend Dwight Howard (248).
However, the former Atlanta Hawks star continued his historic run in Game 3.
Coming into Game 3 against New York, Horford had played in 193 career NBA Playoff games, tied for 11th all-time with former Utah Jazz star Karl Malone.
When the ball tipped on Saturday, Horford recorded his 194th career postseason game, moving past Malone and taking sole possession of 11th on the all-time playoff games list. Malone drops to 12th as well.
The NBA reacted to the historic news with a social media post.
"Congrats to @Al_Horford of the @celtics for moving into 11th on the all-time playoff GAMES PLAYED list!" the NBA wrote on X.

Horford now needs 15 more postseason games to insert himself into the top ten all-time. He trails Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen (208 career postseason games) for 10th and former Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal (216) for ninth.
The record for most postseason games belongs to current Lakers star LeBron James, who has played 292 playoff games during his 22-year career. The next best is another former Laker, Derek Fisher, who played in 259.
Following a must-win Game 3 for Horford and the Celtics, they will stay in New York for Monday's Game 4.
