NBA Reportedly Sends Joint Project Offer To EuroLeague

The NBA has sent a formal offer to the EuroLeague regarding a potential collaboration between the two organizations, multiple sources tell Aris Barkas of Eurohoops.

No details about the offer are known at this time, according to Barkas.

The NBA plans to start a European League — tentatively known as NBA Europe — ahead of the 2027/28 season. At the same time, the EuroLeague intends to expand next fall.

EuroLeague CEO Chus Bueno told The Athletic 10 days ago that the EuroLeague had yet to receive an offer from the NBA, but said the EuroLeague would welcome a firm proposal and would “evaluate it carefully.”

“(EuroLeague and NBA officials) have both publicly stated that we believe collaboration is the best way to grow basketball in Europe,” Bueno said, “and I think there is a shared understanding that the European basketball ecosystem can create more value by working together rather than fragmenting the market.”

The NBA’s offer is expected to be discussed by both EuroLeague officials and teams/shareholders ahead of the EuroLeague owners meeting in Italy on October 5, Barkas reports.
