Several days after making his trade request to team owner Joe Tsai, Kevin Durant remains a member of the Brooklyn Nets -- but that won't be the case for much longer. As the clock ticks through the NBA free agency period, Durant's future continues to be mired in uncertainty.

But according to NBA insider Jake Fischer, everything might still go according to plan for the 2x champion.

In the latest update on the situation, Fischer revealed that Phoenix remains in the best position to become Durant's newest home.

The most likely spot for Kevin Durant right now is to Phoenix in a potential multiple-team deal with Deandre Ayton going to a non-Brooklyn team.

Remember, Phoenix is one of the two teams on Durant's list of desired destinations. With Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and head coach Monty Williams, the Suns have become a very lucrative franchise and have enjoyed a lot of success over the past two years.

All of that appeals to Durant today, who has reportedly developed an appetite to play alongside Book.

It’s no coincidence the two franchises Durant has eyed represent some kind of stability and competitive consistency, with the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat being atop his list. For all the influence Durant perhaps craved and was granted in Brooklyn, he’s a hooper first and second — with the game being the main thing with #HeatCulture and in the Suns’ building. Sources told Yahoo Sports wanting to play alongside Devin Booker is a main motivation, along with the possibility of being slated next to Miami’s resident hard-a** Jimmy Butler — two players whose attendance is rarely questioned.

KD is a hooper, and all of the drama over the past three years clearly got to his head. Instead of messing around in Brooklyn again and having to deal with all of the chaos, he elected to force his way out and to a team that he could help elevate to another level of play.

The price for Durant is high, and the Suns have been unwilling to pay it so far. But they remain the biggest winners in all of this and will probably be the ones to end up with the superstar forward by the time it's all said and done.
