NBA Star Restrained, Fan Ejected As Celtics-Wizards Game Turns Hostile

Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have been one of the hottest teams in the league as we enter the final stretch of the regular season, securing the franchise's first 6-0 road trip.

On Sunday, the Celtics, without Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis, defeated a familiar foe in Marcus Smart and the Washington Wizards 124-90 to start a new winning streak (2).

Smart played for the Celtics from 2014-2023 and became the "heart and soul " of the team. He even helped Boston make it to the 2022 NBA Finals but fell in six games to Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Although Smart was available on Sunday, he did not play in front of the Boston crowd at TD Garden. But he did get a fan kicked out.

During the fourth quarter, a fan sitting behind the Wizards bench had some words for Smart before the guard started jawing back. Smart had to walk away before forward Anthony Gill tried to hold him back.

Security had to remove the fan from the scene. After that happened, Smart walked back and gave a little "finger wag" gesture.

According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, the fan was eventually escorted out of TD Garden entirely, prompting Celtics fans to chant, "We want Marcus."

"Marcus Smart, sitting on the Wizards bench, has to be restrained from a fan sitting behind the WSH bench," Washburn wrote on X. "The fan is being escorted out of the arena. Meanwhile, the Celtics fans start chanting 'We Want Marcus!' Surreal."

Like Smart, Wizards guard Malcolm Brogdon, also a member of the 2021-22 Celtics team, did not receive any minutes against Boston. The Celtics traded away both stars ahead of the 2023-24 season to acquire Porzingis and Jrue Holiday.
