NBA star retracts comments about Victor Wembanyama

He hasn't played an official NBA game yet, and Victor Wembanyama has already made an NBA star take back his comments about him.

During an episode of his podcast, "Podcast P," Los Angeles Clippers star forward Paul George took back remarks he made about the French rookie phenom.

"I take back everything I said," George said.

"And I knew he was going to be successful in the league. But I thought it was going to be tougher than what he is making it look right now just because of his size. You know, our level of play versus what he was used to playing, I thought there was going to be an adjustment period for him."

Wembanyama averaged 19.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks during the preseason while facing players like fellow rookie Chet Holmgren, Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry.

Even though those games didn't count, George added that Wembanyama has been doing incredible things on the court.

"Granted, I mean, he still hasn't played the league yet, but some of the stuff he's doing dog - threw it to the wing, called for the lob at the three-point line knowing nobody else can go get that, dunked it. Then he did a fast break, he Euro without taking a dribble from like the free throw line and flushed it. No one's stopping that,"

In the Spurs preseason finale against the Golden State Warriors, Wembanyama had impressive blocks against Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson, demonstrating once again that he is ready for the competition of the NBA.

Wembanyama will make his NBA debut on Wednesday night as the San Antonio Spurs host the Dallas Mavericks.
