NBA is the lone major sport with action tonight, as the NHL is on a short break for All Star weekend. With our focus on the hardwood, there are two games in the 10 PM window tonight that conceivably should see points.
The games we're referencing are between the two Los Angeles teams, the Lakers and Clippers, and Sacramento-Golden State.
One thing all four teams have in common is they tend to play fast, and to me, pace is always the first metric to keep tabs on.
The Lakers rank first in the NBA in possessions per game and should push the pace of play against a Clippers team currently ranking 14th in possessions per game.
The Kings rank 7th in pace and the Warriors rank 12th, another solid unison of quick teams.
Instead of betting these teams totals as is, there seems to be some logic to choosing an alternate total lower than the line's offered, and parlay them together,
On FanDuel, the current over/unders for these games:
If we move each total down by 7 points, we can parlay them together at +100 odds, a solid two-leg swing to build up your betting bankroll.
The lone game between these two teams so far did go over, with a final score of 119-115. We move the total tonight down to 212.5 to give us some leeway, but recent trends suggest the over may just hit as is.
Sacramento and Golden State have played together twice this season. The two game's average total comes out to 218.5 points, so we load up an alternate total one less than that to hopefully help our cause.
The Warriors should be able to do the heavy lifting here by themselves, considering their explosive offense led by Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson.
The Kings are letting up the third-most points per game as a defense, Golden State should be able to pour it on and help us reach this alternate total.
Kings-Warriors over 217.5 points, Lakers-Clippers over 212.5 points
Good luck tonight!
