If Giannis Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks, one NBA analyst proposed that the Atlanta Hawks trade for the future Hall of Famer.
Dan Favale of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Bucks and Hawks:
Atlanta Hawks Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Kobe Bufkin, Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, 2026 first-round swap (most favorable of Milwaukee’s own and New Orleans), 2027 first-round pick (least favorable of Milwaukee and New Orleans), 2028 first-round swap (most favorable from Atlanta’s own and least favorable of Cleveland and Utah), 2030 second-round pick
This trade idea would pair Antetokounmpo with Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis.
Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed The Greek Freak to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023.
A top 75 player of all time, Antetokounmpo made the All-NBA First Team last season. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks while shooting 60.1% from the field. Milwaukee lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs for the second year in a row.
The Bucks have won only one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship, which is why many people believe Antetokounmpo could ask out of Milwaukee this offseason.
One of the greatest basketball players of all time, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. He has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks.
A “Big 3” of Antetokounmpo, Young and Porzingis could do major damage next season, especially in the Eastern Conference without Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton. Tatum and Haliburton are expected to miss all of next season recovering from their Achilles tears.
It will be fascinating to see what Antetokounmpo does this offseason. The Bucks signed Myles Turner away from the Pacers, but they waived Damian Lillard, a move Antetokounmpo wasn’t happy with.
