NBA warns Lakers' LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma for violating anti-flopping rule

The NBA has been trying to crack down on flopping since the 2012-13 season by warning players for flopping violations and later fining them if they flop again.

On Saturday, the NBA warned Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma for flopping violations in a 115-105 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

The NBA said James' violation occurred with 2:33 remaining in the second quarter and that Kuzma's violation occurred with 6:31 remaining in the fourth quarter.

After receiving a warning, players can be fined between $5,000 and $30,000 if they continue to violate the league's anti-flopping rule.

According to McMenamin, the anti-flopping rule is rarely enforced. LaMelo Ball, D.J. Augustin, Gary Trent Jr., Kristaps Porzingis and Mason Jones are the only other players to be warned for flopping this season.

The last player to be fined for flopping is Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart during the 2020 playoffs.
