The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder will battle it out to see which team will head to the NBA Finals. This matchup should be a great series with both of these young teams going after their first NBA Title as the team is now. One of the biggest takeaways from both of these teams is that the flag bearers for the next generation are here and ready to take the next step.

WCF Team Stats

Now that the teams are set let’s look back at their regular season to see which team has an advantage. Let’s start with the Thunder who was the West’s best team during the regular season accumulating the most wins during the NBA Regular season with 68. The Timberwolves on the other hand had to fight all season long to even get in the NBA Playoffs. If you love a basketball game full of defense this is the series for you because both teams are great at it. This means it will be full of double teams, quick rotations, rim protection and on-ball pressure in a game where either team will not crack 120 points.

What that does not mean is that either Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards, or Julis Randle won’t drop a 30-piece a time or two in this series. What it does mean is that everyone from those three to any other player that scores will have to work and earn. Nothing will be given. This will be a very hard-fought series that could go the full seven games.

Final Thoughts

This series will come down to which bench can score more while on the court. I see the Thunder winning this series in seven games because of how well-balanced they are. Meaning how well they can score in the post or behind the arc whichever shot is open. They also are young and play defense at a high level for all four quarters.
