NBA world dunks on Anthony Edwards after Mavericks-Timberwolves Game 2

The Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday choked away Game 2 of the Western Conference finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Some fans on social media couldn’t help but pin the blame on Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Edwards had a poor showing in his team’s 109-108 loss at Target Center in Minneapolis. The two-time All-Star finished with 21 points on just 5-of-17 shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds and seven assists.

Edwards committed the costly turnover that preceded Luka Doncic’s go-ahead triple over Rudy Gobert that put the Mavericks up 109-108 with three seconds left. Edwards also passed up on the potential game-winning shot in the closing seconds.

After witnessing Edwards stumble on the big stage, several fans on X clamored to erase the narrative that the T-Wolves guard is the next Michael Jordan.

Perhaps we shouldnt of put Anthony Edwards in the same sentence as Michael Jordan yet. Live and learn

Minnesota’s star duo of Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns combined to shoot just 9-of-33 from the field. Timberwolves reserve Naz Reid kept the team afloat with 23 points and seven three-pointers off the bench.

In all fairness to Edwards, Jordan didn’t reach the conference finals until he was 25 years old — three years older than Ant-Man is today. On the other hand, Jordan also averaged 43.7 points per game in the playoffs against the eventual-champion Boston Celtics as a 22-year-old.

Edwards himself has shut down any comparisons to Jordan. But that didn’t stop fans from crowning Edwards as the next face of the league for leading the T-Wolves to the conference finals.
