NBA Wrongly Snubs Kings Duo from 2024 All-Star Game
Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

One year after getting 2023 All-Star honors, Sacramento Kings duo De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis will have the chance to take a vacation. The NBA announced the 2024 All-Star game rosters, and somehow, neither Fox nor Sabonis made the cut.

Despite the Kings having a 27-19 record, sitting 5th in the Western Conference, the 30 NBA coaches did not feel like Sacramento deserved an All-Star. The West All-Star reserves follow:

Kawhi Leonard

Anthony Davis

Devin Booker

Anthony Edwards

Stephen Curry

Paul George

Karl-Anthony Towns

While this is a talented pool of players, Sabonis has arguably been the third-best center in the league this season, yet he has not been good enough for the coaches' vote.

Sabonis, the three-time All-Star, is averaging 19.9 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game this year while leading the league in double-doubles and sitting second in triple-doubles. The big man leads the league in rebounds and is top-six in assists while being the main reason Sacramento is still a top-five team in the West, but he gets no love.

For comparison, Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 22.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while not being the most impactful player on his team.

Fox, the one-time All-Star, is averaging 27.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game amid a career-best season. After getting a load of praise last year for his breakout season, Fox has received less love despite playing at a higher level.

The Kings are the only top-six team in either conference to not have a 2024 All-Star, despite having two All-Star caliber players. The NBA coaches who left the Sacramento duo off their ballots made a significant mistake.
