Nearly 80 percent of ESPN panel thinks Donovan Mitchell will end up with Knicks

Along with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets, and Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers, the other marquee NBA player who's been engulfed in constant trade rumors all summer has been Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell.

It was reported last week that the Jazz, Lakers and New York Knicks had discussed a three-team trade involving both Mitchell and Westbrook, but nothing has come to fruition yet. While Utah's three-time All-Star remains in Salt Lake City for now, a host of ESPN insiders still think there's a strong chance that he ends up with the Knicks.

Following their predictions regarding the top conference finals and NBA Finals contenders on Wednesday, and their projections for every major award winner for the upcoming campaign on Thursday, the team of media members took on another topic Friday. The insiders made their best guesses for "Team Turnaround," "Team Turmoil," and answered the "most pressing questions" involving big-time names in the league.

One of those questions was: Which team will Donovan Mitchell be on to start the 2022-23 season? The heavy favorite according to the panel is New York, which garnered 77.8 percent of the total votes.

"Mitchell is a New York-area native and has shown plenty of love for his Mets on Twitter, so it comes as no surprise that the crosstown Knicks are our panel's runaway favorites to acquire Mitchell before the season starts," the article reads.

The Miami Heat received the second-most votes at 11.1 percent and the Toronto Raptors and Jazz tied for third at 5.6 percent.
