The Brooklyn Nets are beginning what will be a transformative offseason. Not only do they have the Nos. 8, 19, 26, 27, and 36 picks in the upcoming draft, but they also must decide on Cam Thomas' restricted free agency.
The 23-year-old guard averaged 24 points on 43.8 percent shooting (34.9 percent 3 PT) with 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists over 25 games this past season. He struggled with hamstring issues all year after playing 66 contests in 2023-24.
Thomas can sign an offer sheet with any team this summer, but the Nets can retain him by matching it. The LSU alum spoke about his future on Friday, via WKTR's Marc Davis.
“I definitely, definitely want to be back in Brooklyn. It’s definitely home for me," he said. "Being drafted there you definitely build bonds with a lot of people there, so I definitely love it there,” he said before a youth camp in Chesapeake, Virginia.
"But at the same time, you have to do what’s best for you in the business aspects. So I have to play that by ear, but definitely want to be back for sure. I definitely love Brooklyn.”

Brooklyn took Thomas No. 27 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft after winning first-team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors the same year. The 6-foot-3-inch, 210-pounder averaged 8.5 points as a rookie and 10.6 the following season before upgrading to 22.5 in 2023-24.
Thomas led the Nets in points per game last season and this season. Brooklyn could help him get more playoff action if they improve the team soon, as he only has three postseason games on his resume.
