The Brooklyn Nets closed the 2024-25 season with a 26-56 record, missing the playoffs and marking their second straight year out of contention. Their campaign was derailed by injuries to some of the franchise's key players, including veteran forward Bojan Bogdanovic—who underwent foot surgery just before the season began and never played a game for Brooklyn in his second stint.
Bogdanovic signed with the Nets in July after being traded from the New York Knicks but was sidelined by a left foot injury that required two surgeries and kept him out all year. His absence meant the Nets missed a reliable outside shooter and steady veteran presence.
On Sunday, Bogdanovic announced his retirement from the NBA in a heartfelt Instagram post. He wrote that after 14 months battling a persistent foot injury, including two surgeries and extended rehab, “the time has come to close a chapter.”
The Nets responded with a heartfelt post on social media, congratulating the forward on a great career:
“Congrats on a great career, Bojan ”

Over a 10-season NBA career spanning six teams, Bogdanovic averaged 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 719 regular season games, shooting 46.0% from the field. A consistent scorer and floor spacer, he played for the Nets, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, and Knicks before returning to Brooklyn in 2024.
In his first stint with the Nets, Bogdanovic recorded a then career-high 44 points in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers in 2016, before scoring 48 points with the Jazz in 2021.
