Nets' Spencer Dinwiddie reportedly aiming to return for NBA Finals

The Brooklyn Nets could see one of their more valuable players return to the court if they reach the NBA Finals, which are slated to begin July 8. 

According to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, Spencer Dinwiddie is aiming to return for the championship round. The 28-year-old has missed over six months after suffering a partially torn ACL in December. 

The Nets need to eliminate the Milwaukee Bucks and either the Philadelphia 76ers or Atlanta Hawks to advance to the Finals. Brooklyn currently leads Milwaukee 2-1 and Philadelphia leads Atlanta 2-1. 

It's unclear what type of role Dinwiddie would have on the new-look Nets. He was a starter before Brooklyn acquired superstar James Harden. At this point, it's looking like he'd be relegated to a bench role. 

Dinwiddie averaged 6.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and three assists in three games this season. He can become a free agent this offseason if he declines his $12.3-million option.
