Former Miami Heat star Kevin Love has officially been traded to the Utah Jazz, and had the perfect response to the deal that went through.
In a post on X, Kevin Love had a witty remark about the trade deal that brought him out of the Miami Heat.
“Never thought I’d be a math problem. Welcome to the NBA,” Love tweeted.

Kevin Love was traded to the Utah Jazz from the Miami Heat as part of a three-team deal along with the Los Angeles Clippers. Love’s witty remark was due to the fact that the deal between the teams was centered on salary balancing, roster reshuffling, and long-term asset management.
In 2024, Love re-signed to a two-year, $8 million contract in the first few minutes of free agency, but he turned down his $4.0 million player option when it became available this summer. In comparison to his player option, Love’s 2024–25 salary was reduced by about $178K as a result, but every dollar matters given the Heat’s position close to the punishing second apron.
Kevin Love is nearing two decades in the NBA. As he starts his 18th season with a new team following the blockbuster trade he was involved in, fans started to question his future in the NBA moving forward. Love has not played much during his last season with the Miami Heat, and with him being on veteran status, how long could he plan on throwing hoops on the court?
In a 2024 interview, Love previously expressed his desire to play for at least two more years in the NBA, as he plans to reach a milestone 20-year career.
“I think settling and not looking at the next 12 months, I have a little bit of a runway for at least two years and we’ll see after that,” he said. “Would love to get to that round number in 20. Certainly love being here–playing, giving myself to the team, keeping the locker room light and fun. It made a lot of sense on my end to look for that and want to be here at least for two more years.”
Yet again, it has to be said that he was saying this while a member of the Heat, and his future dreams and desires may have received a blow from a trade deal recently made that sent him to Utah.
Kevin Love played for parts of three seasons for the Miami Heat, when he signed a buyout deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by a ride to the team to sign a contract.
