In a recent press conference, newly appointed Phoenix Suns General Manager Brian Gregory addressed the swirling speculation surrounding the future of superstar Kevin Durant with the franchise.

Speaking candidly, Gregory emphasized his strong rapport with Durant, revealing a heartfelt moment between the two.

“I have a very, very good relationship with both those guys. Kevin gave me a nice hug in the weight room the other night,” Gregory shared, signaling a positive dynamic amid trade rumors.

The rumors have persisted since the Suns’ disappointing 2024-25 season, where they finished 36-46 and missed the Western Conference play-in tournament.

Gregory, who was promoted from vice president of player programming to GM, also mentioned a recent dinner with Bradley Beal, indicating that both stars remain integral to his vision for the team.

However, his primary focus is on finding the right head coach to lead Durant, a superstar looking to cement his legacy with more championships.

“My main focus right now, to be honest with you, is finding the right head coach for those guys,” he stated, highlighting the urgency of establishing a new direction after the Suns parted ways with their previous coach.

The Suns’ lack of draft picks until 2029 and a roster in need of depth have fueled skepticism among fans and analysts.

As Gregory navigates this pivotal offseason, his ability to align the team’s stars with a new coaching vision will be crucial in determining whether the Suns can reclaim their status as contenders—or if Durant’s future lies elsewhere.
