'New York Is Overpriced BS Everywhere': Fans Criticize Knicks' Ticket Prices For Being 4x More Expensive Than OKC

The New York Knicks have been one of the most exciting teams to follow in the NBA. After an outstanding display of skill and grit against the Boston Celtics, the Knicks find themselves in the ECF after almost 25 years. However, the fans haven't necessarily been as energetic about the team's approach involving ticket pricing.

Given the size of the market, the Big Apple is known to be one of the most expensive locations in the league. This aspect has been reflected in the playoffs, with the price of admission at Madison Square Garden being marked at ludicrous amounts

Although fans have been willing to pay for the tickets just to get a glimpse of the miracles this team has been able to pull off, the growing dissatisfaction is palpable.

Game 1 of the Conference Finals features a stark disparity in ticket prices. With the Western Conference series seeing an average ticket price of $170, the East completely blows things out of proportion with an average ticket price of $671.

NBA fans were quick to react to these wildly disproportionate figures on X.

"New York is overpriced BS everywhere," said one fan.

"The price is right. I’d rather see a slugfest between Pacers and Knicks than see SGA bait for fouls all game long vs. Wolves," said another, in agreement with the pricing structure.

A fan took the reality of the situation into account and said, "NYC is an expensive place, and demand must be insane. I’d wager there’s enough cashed-up fans, or fans that would sell family members to get a ticket, to fill the place at 5 times the price."

"Big market vs small market. The NBA wants the Knicks to win. They need one big market team in the finals," chimed in another.

"Knicks fans really paying Broadway prices for basketball while Thunder fans get a Midwest discount!" added another fan.

The disparity in pricing is jarring, but not surprising. The NBA features a blend of small and big market teams. This season's iteration of the conference finals has presented an opportunity for teams on both ends of the spectrum to battle it out for their place at the top.

In light of this, the East simply features one of the biggest markets in the NBA. While this doesn't necessarily justify the price points, it is certainly a reason for it.

The Knicks-Pacers series is building up to be an intense matchup. Both teams have displayed a tenacity and desire to win that has garnered the attention of fans across the world.

After an unexpected series against the Boston Celtics, the Knicks look like one of the most battle-tested teams heading into the final stretch of the postseason. Led by their star Jalen Brunson, the Knicks have shown the resilience to emerge victorious, even in the most unlikely of situations.

Meanwhile, although the Indiana Pacers have displayed excellence in execution, as they have blitzed their opponents in each round. Led by a gifted floor general in Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana will look to stake their claim on a spot in the NBA Finals.

The intense battle in the East will begin on Wednesday, May 21st at 8:00 pm ET. With the way New York fans have been celebrating each win, Madison Square Garden is bound to be on the verge of erupting simply at the thought of their team winning Game 1.
