New York Knicks Accuse NBA Of Being Biased Over Lawsuit With Toronto Raptors

The New York Knicks ownership group, MSG Sports, released a statement to NBA insider Ian Begley, accusing the NBA of sitting on important information in the arbitration process regarding their 2023 lawsuit against the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks believe the NBA is showing a clear bias in the arbitration process, and trying to push an agenda against the Knicks.

"The NBA has admitted to sitting on this serious theft of proprietary and confidential files for several months. The NBA has a clear conflict of interest and a lack of desire to see a fair outcome in this matter - which we've said all along."

The Knicks sued the Raptors in August of 2023 over a former employee, Ikechukwu Azotam, who left them to join the Raptors, and allegedly shared classified files and information with the Raptors. These files included their pay structure, scouting videos and reports, opposition reports, and planning guides for the 2022-23 NBA season.

The Knicks have been at odds with the NBA for quite some time. Recently, they accused the NBA of pursuing a vendetta against them after they opened an investigation into the promotion of Rick Brunson, the father of Jalen Brunson, being promoted to associate head coach in the wake of former associate HC Johnnie Bryant leaving to join the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Furthermore, in September of this year, James Dolan penned a long letter to the NBA, declaring his intentions to veto the NBA's media rights deal with Amazon Prime and NBCUniversal over dissatisfaction with the distribution of funds from the deal to the teams.

The Knicks have been in conflict with the NBA for quite some time. And they believe that the league is now taking the cause of arbitration in their lawsuit against the Raptors as a window to take revenge on them for their public opposition to them.

It is unknown how the NBA will respond to this accusation. Stay tuned to Fadeaway World for the latest updates on this matter, along with the latest in NBA analysis, trade rumors, and more.
