Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks are not planning to rest on their laurels despite having a 3-1 series lead over the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.
“I was actually telling everyone to get off the court. I was like, it’s nothing to celebrate, Brunson said after Game 4 via ESPN’s Chris Herring.
“I think (tonight) was a sense of urgency, desperation. Knowing that we had a great opportunity against a really good team,” he added. “I don’t even think we’re playing our best basketball yet. We have a team that’s still fairly new this year, and we have a long way to go be the best team we can be. There’s always time to learn for us. We’re never satisfied, and that’s the mentality.”
The New York Knicks are on the verge of returning to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. They will look to close out Boston in Game 5 at TD Garden.
Jalen Brunson played out of his mind last night, putting up 39 points, five rebounds, 12 assists, and four three-pointers on 14-for-25 shooting from the field. He scored 26 points in the second half after a relatively slow first half.
“Times being tough like that, you know he’s going to never dwell from the moment, he’s going to stay locked in and get us there,” Mikal Bridges said about Brunson via Peter Botte of the New York Post. “He just wants to win. How he works, and he knows what he likes on the court, where he wants to get to.”
“Honestly, do we all expect anything less? I expect nothing less from Cap,” Karl-Anthony Towns added.
