New York Knicks Rumors: 1 Intriguing NY Move That Could Signal Intention to Trade for a Star
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Bojan Bogdanovic will be an asset to watch over the side of the New York Knicks in the upcoming 2024 NBA offseason. The veteran sniper could be released by the Knicks and pay him just $2 million in the summer, or they could elect to keep him and commit $19.032 million worth of salary to the Croatian pro for the 2024-25 season.

But even if the Knicks end up choosing to guarantee his deal for the next season, that move could still signal his looming departure from the Big Apple.

What Will the New York Knicks Do with Bojan Bogdanovic?

The Knicks are rumored to be in the hunt for another side to play alongside Jalen Brunson. That $19 million price tag on Bogdanovic, assuming the Knicks pick that up, would be a great piece to include in a trade for a star.

Via Fred Katz of The Athletic:

Whatever the Knicks choose to do with Bogdanović, who they acquired in February, could be the tell of their offseason. They have until June 28 either to release the 35-year-old forward, which would pay him only $2 million for 2024-25, or to guarantee his $19 million salary. If they decide on the latter, it may be a sign that a trade for a star is on the way.

Part of the reason they acquired Bogdanović, who just underwent his second surgery in a month, was because of his contract flexibility. They could use him as a midsized salary to flip in a star trade or they could move on from him if it did not work.

Bogdanovic, who turned 35 last April, averaged 15.2 points on 45.4 percent shooting from the field and 39.8 percent shooting from deep for the Detroit Pistons and the Knicks in the 2023-24 campaign.
