New York Knicks Rumors: Team Not Trying to Trade Julius Randle
John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

It did not take long for New York Knicks rumors to pick up. Almost immediately after the team was eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, discussions began about how the team could improve its roster. One player who has been in the middle of those Knicks rumors is Julius Randle.

Randle injured his shoulder on January 27th against the Miami Heat. He did everything he could to try and get back in the lineup, but his shoulder was not stable. As a result, he had to undergo surgery.

Julius Randle is expected to be healthy once the 2024-25 gets underway, but not having him in the mix to finish this season was rough. While the Knicks still found and played hard, not having their All-Star and All-NBA power forward in the mix was tough to overcome. Especially when you take into account the other injuries the team was facing.

With their offseason underway, Randle has been the subject of several trade rumors. Nearly every mock trade that the Knicks are involved in, he is the centerpiece of. Why people are so willing to give away a player of his caliber without receiving a player of comparable star power back is confusing.

But, if recent Knicks rumors are true, Julius Randle isn’t actively being shopped by the team. According to Fred Katz of The Athletic, New York is not trying to trade their star power forward. But, they are aware to land the kind of superstar player they are seeking, Randle may have to be involved.

Leon Rose and the front office have shown patience when it comes to building the roster. They aren’t going to make a trade just to make a trade. Unless they can get a clear-cut upgrade, running it back with this core and hoping to have better injury luck is the way to go.
