New York Knicks signing ‘can score the ball fast’ and has the ‘it factor’, says Patrick Beverley

The New York Knicks have just added another scorer behind Jalen Brunson, and Patrick Beverley believes he can take over games.

The New York Knicks seem to finally be getting things together. Yesterday, the Knicks finalized Mike Brown as their head coach.

The decision looked like it was in the works for some time, as the Knicks had told free agents they’d be hiring a coach soon.

Speaking of free agents, the Knicks haven’t made too many signings. The Knicks’ first signing was Guerschon Yabusele, who thrived with the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

But the more noteworthy signing has been of former Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson. And if Patrick Beverley is to be believed, this is one of the most underrated signings of the season.

Patrick Beverley praises Jordan Clarkson as a scorer

Patrick Beverley spoke on his podcast about the biggest moves in NBA free agency so far. He applauded the New York Knicks for signing Jordan Clarkson.

He pointed out how Clarkson’s ‘it factor’ as a scorer will come in handy, as their lack of scoring outside of Brunson did haunt them in the playoffs. While Clarkson’s defense isn’t the best, he brings a great element to the Knicks that they needed.

“Very good move. He brings toughness, he brings the ‘it factor’, you on the court, you know something’s going to happen.

“I’m not saying he’s the best defender, what he does offensively can make up, he can score the ball fast.

“He was getting busy in Utah. Now he is in New York, he’s about to control the whole second unit. For the most part, that’s what the Knicks have been missing: another scorer off the bench, or can get to the free throw line.

“He can run off 12 to 15 points straight… get the crowd going. I like Jordan Clarkson for the Knicks.”

New York Knicks must try to make some more roster moves

Right now, the Knicks are in a strong position. But with the roster they have, they still need to add maybe one or two more pieces to compete for a championship.

While the Knicks’ starting five is among the best in the NBA, their roster isn’t as deep as some other contenders like the OKC Thunder and Denver Nuggets.

Of course, the Knicks will have to be careful, as they are a second-apron team, and cannot really make a lot of trades or signings without some kind of punishment.

Will Leon Rose look to move one of the Knicks’ core players, like Mitchell Robinson or Josh Hart? It might be worth considering so that the Knicks can take advantage of the wide-open Eastern Conference.
