New York Knicks to host Keion Brooks Jr. at free agent minicamp

Front offices frequently hold these sorts of workouts in June to get a look at veteran free agents and G League standouts ahead of Summer League and training camp.

After going undrafted in 2024, Brooks latched on with the New Orleans Pelicans on their summer league roster before signing with the team in September. He spent the first chunk of the season with their G-League affiliate, formerly known as the Birmingham Squadron.

In January of 2025, his contract was converted into a two-way deal, and he ultimately appeared in 14 games (six starts) for the Pelicans throughout the remainder of the year, averaging 10.1 points per game and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 48.6% from the field and 32.6% from beyond the arc.

Per SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks also hosted a flurry of prospects in the upcoming 2026 NBA draft for private, pre-draft workouts, including Georgia Tech’s Kowacie Reeves Jr., Iona’s Toby Harris, Syracuse’s William Kyle, Mississippi State’s Jayden Epps, and Wyatt Fricks of Marshall.

While the Knicks still remain focused on securing their first NBA title since 1973, the organization is still laying the groundwork for its summer plans.
