New York Knicks Wing Faces Season-Ending Injury

The New York Knicks have announced that forward Bojan Bogdanovic will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season due to surgery on his left foot.

The 35-year-old player, who recently celebrated a birthday, had been managing a wrist problem prior to sustaining a new injury during Sunday’s playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The incident occurred early in the second quarter of Game 4, shortly after Bogdanovic entered the game. While pursuing a loose ball, he became entangled with 76ers forward Nicolas Batum and fell to the court in severe pain. He was visibly struggling and limped off the court, later being declared out for the duration of the game.

Bogdanovic joined the Knicks from the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline along with Alec Burks, a move meant to strengthen the team’s roster for the playoffs.

Despite playing a reserve role, Bogdanovic had been impactful, notably sinking two crucial three-pointers in the fourth quarter of the Knicks’ Game 1 victory at Madison Square Garden.

The forward is set to earn a $19 million salary next season, of which $2 million is guaranteed. His contract becomes fully guaranteed if he remains with the Knicks past June 28. He was viewed as a needed scoring threat on the wing despite being in the later stage of his career.

The Knicks, who are also without All-Star forward Julius Randle due to shoulder surgery, face additional challenges as center Mitchell Robinson‘s status remains uncertain for Tuesday’s Game 5 due to an ankle injury.
