Iman Shumpert and Mario Chalmers feel that Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards can win his first league MVP within the next three years. Speaking on the All In podcast, the former NBA champions explained the next steps in Edwards’ development.

“Next three years, I’m tailing that. If he learns how to simplify his game, just one more step,” Chalmers said about Edwards.

“I like it too, I just need him to learn to play with his back to the basket. He don’t understand how important that is. But it’s that double team that bothered him. If he sees it coming and knows how to attack it, where you got your feet offset when you’re chasing in this position, as opposed to being able to slide, oh my lord. He’s going to be so dangerous,” Shumpert added about the Minnesota Timberwolves swingman.

Edwards has led the Minnesota Timberwolves to back-to-back Western Conference Finals. The three-time NBA All-Star is coming off a productive 2024-25 campaign, having averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game on 44.7 percent shooting across 79 regular season appearances.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards accused by former Dallas Mavericks owner of free throw violations

Former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban recently pointed out that Anthony Edwards “steps over the line” whenever he shoots free throws, which goes uncalled by the officials.

“Watch Anthony Edwards when he takes a free throw shot,” Cuban detailed on the Road Trippin’ podcast. “Every single time he steps over the line. Every time. If you remember back in the day, I used to send in tapes on Shaq and they started calling it, and he had to fix his free throws.

“Anthony Edwards, he had a game against (the Timberwolves) where they were up like 93-92, with a few seconds left. He steps over the line, and then the ball goes in the basket. I’m like, this is the easiest call for a referee. Just watch to see if he steps over the line, and they refuse to call it,” he added.
