Nick Nurse Slams Philadelphia 76ers After Blowout Loss

It was another game and another defeat for the Philadelphia 76ers to take their record to 15-27. Not only will the loss hurt though but the manner of it as well. They lost 144-109 to the Denver Nuggets.

The Sixers found themselves lacking in pretty much every department on the night and at times looked disinterested. Many fans have given up on this season already and one has to wonder if that feeling is starting to creep into the locker room as well.

Nick Nurse is someone who cannot afford to give up on this season though. The 76ers were expected to compete for the Championship after adding Paul George in the summer but now, it looks like even reaching the playoffs could be an uphill struggle for them.

It goes without saying that this season could hurt the head coach's reputation and he clearly was not happy with his team's performance against the Nuggets.

According to Ky Carlin on Sixers Wire, Nurse said: "We're back on our heels the whole time.

"Not communicating well enough, not being physical enough to stand them up. We got, as you saw, they got in the open floor. We had guys back, and they knocked us all the way into the basket and laid it in right. We just didn't stand them up enough all night. We had a bunch of plays that happened right in front of the rim, where we were behind them, but they buried us so deep they were just turning, and they had size advantage at almost every position. Just turning, laid it over the top of us. So not very happy with our, I think, our mental preparation of being ready to go at the start of the game tonight."

It was a night to forget for the Sixers and there have been plenty of those this season. Things need to improve, and quickly.

For a little while, it had looked like they were heading in the right direction. But as Joel Embiid found himself back on the sidelines, the 76ers have struggled to cope with his absence.

George looks like a shell of the player that Philly fans had hoped the Sixers had signed on a four-year, $212 million deal in the summer. And Tyrese Maxey clearly is having a tough time carrying this team to wins.

They are on a seven-game losing streak right now and 11th in the East. To be honest, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel at the moment.
