This NBA season has been a wild and exciting ride so far for everyone but especially Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

The latest standings for the MVP race have been released and they suggest that the current Most Valuable Player might end up being a future one too.

NBA.com’s MVP ladder has Jokic with the best chances of claiming the MVP title.

Following him is Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls, and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Right now, Jokic has the best chance of claiming the trophy but a lot of can change in the weeks ahead as the postseason races heat up.

Repeat Win?

While all of the men on the list are doing incredible work on their respective teams, it’s hard to ignore the season that Jokic is having.

Right now, Jokic is averaging 26 points, 7.9 assists, and a downright crazy 13.8 rebounds a game.

Although the competition is close, Embiid is still slightly behind Jokic with an average of 29.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.

In other words, Jokic is producing the most out of any of the MVP candidates.

However, he’s also become an effective team leader for his Nuggets and has become a true force of nature on both sides of the court.

The Nuggets are sixth in the West right now with a record of 34-25.

That isn’t the record they were hoping for but it would be much, much lower without Jokic.

For a man of his size, he is playing amazing and truly MVP-worthy basketball.

There’s a reason he’s in the running to take the title again: it’s because he deserves it.
