Norman Powell Shows Love To Former Raptors Succeeding In New Situations

Former Toronto Raptors guard Norman Powell is a player who has spread his wings since leaving Canada.

This season was a career year for Powell, putting up 21.8 points on 48.4 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from 3-point range. He was a key factor in propelling the Los Angeles Clippers into a surprise playoff team.

Due to his strong play, the former Raptors champion was a finalist for the Most Improved Player award. Unfortunately, that went to Dyson Daniels, but that cannot take away from Powell’s accomplishment.

However, he is not the only one experiencing success as of late and Powell showed love to his former teammates as they are thriving in new situations, via Sportsnet:

Fred VanVleet signed a three-year, $128 million contract with the Houston Rockets and led a culture change there. This turned the Rockets into a second seed in a competitive Western Conference.

On the other hand, O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam are facing off in the Eastern Conference Finals. Both of them are looking to win a second ring and the stakes do not get higher.

Ultimately, it shows how Toronto was able to find winning role players. Thankfully, they were able to win a title with all four of them before their departures.

Hopefully, they can continue those winning ways in their respective situations. Perhaps one of Anunoby or Siakam will be a two-time champion when the Finals conclude.

Norman Powell believes Raptors should have ‘kept the band together’

This is not the first time Norman Powell has spoken out about his time with the Raptors. He more reminiscences on his time in Toronto, wishing it had played out differently.

Time frankly ran out on their post-Kawhi Leonard core and president Masai Ujiri decided to make changes. But, Powell believed that the Raptors should have ‘kept the band together.’
