As the Denver Nuggets prepare for their matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, key injury updates could impact their rotation. Denver has put together a strong season and enters the game on a three-game winning streak, looking to build momentum and potentially overtake the Los Angeles Lakers for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

The team’s success has been driven by Nikola Jokić, alongside Jamal Murray, with consistent contributions from forwards Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson.

However, both Gordon and Watson are dealing with injuries. According to the Nuggets’ official X account, they are both listed as questionable due to right hamstring injury management. Their potential absence could affect Denver’s depth and versatility as it looks to continue its push up the standings.

Despite dealing with recurring hamstring injuries this season, Gordon has been highly effective for Denver, evolving into a reliable scorer and rebounder.

Across 31 games, the 30-year-old is averaging 16.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 50.1% from the field and 41.0% from 3-point range. His elite athleticism makes him a constant threat at the rim, while his versatility allows him to defend multiple positions. He also thrives as an intelligent cutter alongside Nikola Jokić, providing efficient scoring opportunities and strong floor spacing.

If both Gordon and Watson are unable to play, Denver will need increased production from role players such as Cameron Johnson and Jonas Valančiūnas.

Watson’s absence would be especially impactful, as he has already missed extended time. He is averaging 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists across 50 games, shooting 49.5% from the field and 41.1% from 3-point range.

A former Arizona standout and the No. 4 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Gordon has developed into a reliable two-way forward for the Nuggets. An NBA champion in 2023, he has evolved beyond a high-flying dunker into a key contributor on a title-contending roster.

After beginning his career with the Orlando Magic, he found a strong fit in Denver, where his defense, versatility, and improved shooting have elevated his impact.

Gordon signed a four-year, $133 million contract extension with the Nuggets in October 2024, keeping him under contract through the 2028-29 season. Denver views him as an important long-term piece, and a deep playoff run this postseason could further solidify his value as a core player moving forward.
