The Denver Nuggets opened their season against the Golden State Warriors and lost a thriller 137-131. The game had everything you want as a fan of hoops. From unbelievable performances to legends making plays in the clutch, it’s been an incredible start to the 2025 season.

Aaron Gordon Continues Trending Up

Aaron Gordon has improved his game greatly. From being primarily a lane cutter and dunker, to being a legitimate threat from the outside. Even in his 12th season, he continues to improve.

In the 2023-2024 season, Gordon shot 32.8% from three. When teams faced the Nuggets, their game plan was to often leave him open on the and avoid letting him do damage in the paint. That percentage, though, skyrocketed a year later.

In the 2024-2025 season, he shot 43.6% from three. That kind of jump is awe-inspiring. It’s not just a matter of getting more shots up; it’s also being able to find something in his shooting form that works.

Gordon’s improved three-point shooting was what allowed Denver to stay in the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the postseason. In games one and three, he hit clutch three-pointers at the end of regulation, which ultimately led to victories.

Fast forward to 2025, and Gordon has picked up right where he left off. In the game against Golden State, he scored 50 points. Yes, you read that right.

From the three-point line, Gordon was 10/11 from three and shot 81% overall. Those are video game numbers, and for a guy who was never known for his shooting, he has completely restructured his game to have games like this.

It’s a tough pill to swallow for the Nuggets to have lost this game, but if this is a version of Gordon that is here to stay, they’re going to be hard to beat.

Wardell Stephen Curry II

There are no words to describe what Stephen Curry did last night. In his 17th season, he is still the greatest show in all of sports, and it’s not really close. He single-handedly won them the game last night because Denver had control for most of the contest until crunch time.

Curry finished the game with 42 points on 14-25 shooting and was 6/12 from three. He wasn’t great in the first half as he only had seven, but he finished the game with 40+ still. That is what makes these guys legends.

Curry could not get anything going in the first half, and just flipped a switch when his team needed it most. At the end of the fourth quarter, he shouldered the entire strong load. At one point, I looked up and saw that he scored the Warriors’ last 16 points.

To do this at age 37 is nuts. I know LeBron has warped everyone’s mind about how NBA players above 35 should play, so we think this is normal. Make no mistake about it, this type of performance is not normal, and I hope people appreciate it before guys like Curry retire.

As a Nuggets fan, I was in awe watching him. The shot to tie the game with 20 seconds left was absolutely ridiculous. He was basically two steps inside half court, and when he released it, there was no doubt in my mind that it was going on.

Denver had no answers for him. Golden State, after a shaky offseason, looks like a solid team so far. They’ve started 2-0 with two quality wins over good opponents on national TV. Could they be a dark horse contender for the NBA Championship?

End Of My Denver Nuggets-Golden State Warriors Rant

The Nuggets-Warriors game was just the latest edition of what has been a fantastic start to the NBA season so far. In just three days, the league has seen three games that have gone to at least one overtime. Two of them went to double overtime, and that involved the defending champion Thunder winning both games.

The league has also seen a total of six 40-point games. It’s only been three days. Victor Wembanyama had 40 and 15, and it looks like it’ll take a higher power to slow him down.

Everything about the NBA season so far has been perfect. If this is just a preview of more to come, we are in for a treat.
