Nuggets Could Trade for Nets' $94 Million Sharpshooter to Improve Championship Odds.

The Denver Nuggets have not looked as dominant this season as they have in the past few years.

Denver’s struggles have been caused by the supporting cast around Nikola Jokić not stepping up this season. With Jokić once again on track to win his fourth MVP award this season as he is averaging a career-high 32.3 points per game, along with 13.6 rebounds and 10.2 assists, he has received limited help from the rest of the roster.

While Jokić has continued to get even better, the rest of Denver’s roster has not, especially defensively, as they have one of the NBA’s worst defenses. Their defense is not the only issue though, as their three-point shooting has also been a major problem.

Denver is shooting the three-ball well at 38.2%, which ranks near the top of the league. They are only making 11.7 threes per game though, which ranks near the bottom of the NBA. With their struggles, they could look to upgrade their roster at the trade deadline to once again make a championship push this season.

The Nuggets could turn to the Brooklyn Nets to better their roster. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Nets were open to the idea of trading away Cameron Johnson, there sharpshooting forward. With Denver’s three-point struggles, they could look to add Johnson via trade to improve their numbers.

In a possible trade, Denver could send Michael Porter Jr. and draft capital to Brooklyn for a package of Johnson, Day’Ron Sharpe and Shake Milton. By pulling off this trade, Denver would not only add a knockdown shooter in Johnson, but also a backup center in Sharpe and another scorer off the bench in Milton.

By adding Johnson, who is making 3.3 three-pointers per game, the Nuggets outside shooting would instantly improve. Sharpe and Milton would also become key players off the bench as the Nuggets try to win their second title in three seasons at the end of the year.
