The season didn’t end the way the Nuggets imagined. Not after 54 wins. Not after a 12-game winning streak entering the playoffs.
Then it just stopped.
Denver ran into a Minnesota defense that knocked it out of rhythm, and suddenly, even Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray looked human. The entire rotation struggled compared to the regular season, as Bennett Durando of The Denver Post detailed.
That led to the usual questions. Including at head coach. But don’t expect a change with David Adelman.
The “immediate sense” inside the organization is Adelman will be back next season, per Durando. And Jokic didn’t hesitate to shut down any blame.
“It’s not his fault we couldn’t rebound,” Jokic said. “It’s not his fault we couldn’t catch the ball very well. There is nothing to blame David Adelman. It’s all us.”
That’s your franchise player drawing a line.
So yes, the Nuggets have questions after an early exit. But the coach? That doesn’t appear to be one of them.
