Wednesday night was as one-sided as it gets in the NBA Playoffs. The Oklahoma City Thunder absolutely dismantled the Denver Nuggets, winning a dominant 149-109 in Game 2 to tie up the series 1-1. Nuggets stars were not happy after the loss.
This one got ugly pretty quickly. The Thunder were up 45-21 after the first quarter. By halftime, they set a new NBA playoff record. Oklahoma City posted 87 points at the break, the most scored in a first half in NBA Playoffs history.
The Thunder kept up the momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Nuggets 37-20. It did not take long for the benches to be cleared in this matchup.
It is easy to get frustrated with yourself after a performance where you get absolutely blasted by the opposing team. It is just as easy to find a way to deflect blame for such a disappointing outing as well.
Aaron Gordon opted for the latter. The Nuggets forward took exception to the way the game was being officiated all night after the conclusion of the contest.
"They're fouling, point blank period, throughout the game," Gordon told the media after Game 2.
After helping the Nuggets steal Game 1 on the road with a late 3-pointer, the athletic forward struggled in this game. Gordon scored 10 points, adding five rebounds and one block to the performance.
The Nuggets star shot a woeful 3-of-12 from the field in Game 2. Gordon finished the matchup as a woeful -36 in the box score.
For what it's worth to Gordon, the Nuggets only shot four less free throws in this game than the Thunder. Oklahoma City took 36 attempts at the line, while Denver got 32.
