Odds to win the 2017-18 NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors are back on top in the NBA, one game away from winning their second championship in three seasons, and heavy favorites to repeat in 2017-18. The following list features odds to win the NBA Finals next season, according to Sportsbook.ag as of May 29, 2017.

1 of 30

Golden State Warriors: 2/3

The Warriors have made the Finals three straight seasons, and there's no reason to think they'll fail to if their entire core returns next season. The team won 67 games during the regular season despite Kevin Durant missing significant time, and Stephen Curry didn't perform as well as 2015-16.

Cleveland Cavaliers: 3/1

The Cavs have made three straight NBA Finals and have been the Eastern Conference's most successful team. LeBron James remains arguably the most valuable player in the NBA, but he may be on borrowed time for his prime going on age 33.

3 of 30

San Antonio Spurs: 15/1

San Antonio Spurs: 15/1

While the Spurs won 61 games during the regular season, they were swept by the Warriors during the playoffs, playing much of the series without Kawhi Leonard. Either way, they have a big gap to fill between their level and the Warriors' level in the Western Conference.

4 of 30

Boston Celtics: 20/1

Boston Celtics: 20/1

Boston had a successful season as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and is set to improve next season with the first overall pick in the draft. Whether the Celtics keep the pick to take Markelle Fultz or trade it for a star player is the big question, but Isaiah Thomas will be getting some help in any case.

5 of 30

Houston Rockets: 40/1

Houston Rockets: 40/1

James Harden is coming off his best season, helping the Rockets score the second most points in the NBA during the regular season. Whether they have enough depth to overcome the Warriors and Spurs in the Western Conference remains to be seen.

6 of 30

Los Angeles Clippers: 50/1

Will the Big Three return? Will owner Steve Ballmer attract even more talent? That's the question for what has been a relatively disappointing run for the trio of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

7 of 30

Washington Wizards: 50/1

Washington Wizards: 50/1
Geoff Burke / USA Today Sports Images

The Wizards finally found some great cohesion out of their backcourt, with John Wall and Bradley Beal having great seasons. Wall has solidified himself as a superstar, so the expectations are increasing in Washington.

8 of 30

Milwaukee Bucks: 75/1

Milwaukee Bucks: 75/1
Dan Hamilton / USA Today Sports Images

Milwaukee is making progress, garnering the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference and seeing an emerging star in Giannis Antetokounmpo. With Jabari Parker also expected to make further progress in his fourth season, the future looks bright in Milwaukee.

9 of 30

Oklahoma City Thunder: 75/1

Oklahoma City Thunder: 75/1

Russell Westbrook is the likely NBA MVP after a truly incredible season, but his contribution wasn't even close to enough in the playoffs. The Thunder need to retain Westbrook while surrounding him with more complementary talent to truly compete in the Western Conference.

10 of 30

Toronto Raptors: 75/1

Toronto Raptors: 75/1

Another strong year for Toronto, finishing with a No. 3 seed, but a sweep in the playoffs at the hands of Cleveland ended the season on a sour note. Kyle Lowry's pending free agency will have Raptors fans holding their breath.

11 of 30

New Orleans Pelicans: 100/1

New Orleans Pelicans: 100/1

The pairing of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins looked great on paper, but the Pelicans didn't exactly close out the season on fire. Just making the playoffs would be progress for this 34-win squad.

12 of 30

Chicago Bulls: 150/1

Chicago Bulls: 150/1

The Bulls gave the Celtics all they could handle in the playoffs before Rajon Rondo's injury. Chicago has the talent to be much more than a No. 8 seed, but the team is far away from truly competing with the Cavs.

13 of 30

Denver Nuggets: 150/1

Denver Nuggets: 150/1
Chris Humphreys / USA Today Sports Images

Denver came up short of making the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference with a defense that allowed more than 111 points per game. The potential loss of leading scorer Danilo Gallinari in free agency would be a huge blow.

14 of 30

Indiana Pacers: 150/1

Larry Bird has departed a Pacers squad that could be looking at its final season with Paul George. Indiana won only 42 games and had the No. 7 seed with him in 2016-17.

15 of 30

Memphis Grizzlies: 150/1

Memphis Grizzlies: 150/1

The Grizzlies could lose third-leading scorer Zach Randolph in free agency, a major issue for a team that has already been struggling for offense. They did get a career year out of Mike Conley in 2016-17, averaging more than 20 points per game.

16 of 30

Miami Heat: 150/1

Miami Heat: 150/1
Jeremy Brevard / USA Today Sports Images

The Chris Bosh saga is finally over in Miami, and thus the Big Three are just a memory. Pat Riley continues his rebuild with Goran Dragic, Hassan Whiteside and the No. 14 pick in the NBA Draft.

17 of 30

Minnesota Timberwolves: 150/1

Minnesota Timberwolves: 150/1

There aren't many teams with a higher upside core than Minnesota, yet the T-Wolves won only 31 games and struggled defensively. They're set to add more talent to Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine with the No. 7 pick in the draft.

18 of 30

Philadelphia 76ers: 150/1

Philadelphia 76ers: 150/1

Philadelphia is finally out of the cellar and also set with the No. 3 pick in the draft. Joel Embiid emerged as a potential star when he was healthy, but his inability to stay on the floor is a major concern.

19 of 30

Portland Trail Blazers: 150/1

Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum are coming off of great seasons, yet the Blazers still only finished .500 before getting swept by the Warriors. Two first-round picks in the top 20 should help them add depth.

20 of 30

Utah Jazz: 150/1

Utah Jazz: 150/1

Head coach Quin Snyder produced an elite defensive team in Utah, with the Jazz exceeding expectations. The potential loss of star Gordon Hayward in free agency could ruin the organization's progress, however.

21 of 30

Los Angeles Lakers: 200/1

Los Angeles Lakers: 200/1
Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA Today Sports Images

The Lakers won only 26 games in 2016-17. The good news is that they have the No. 2 pick in the draft and the mega-market that attracts big-time free agents.

22 of 30

Dallas Mavericks: 250/1

Dallas Mavericks: 250/1
Kevin Jairaj / USA Today Sports Images

Owner Mark Cuban admitted that the Mavs weren't exactly playing to win at the end of the year, and their reward is the ninth pick in the draft. With star Dirk Nowitzki now well past his prime, they could use a new influx of star power.

23 of 30

Atlanta Hawks: 300/1

Atlanta Hawks: 300/1
Nicole Sweet / USA Today Sports Images

The Hawks are buried in the odds despite having the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference this year, with the likelihood that power forward Paul Millsap is headed toward free agency. They're counting on Dwight Howard to step up, which doesn't seem to be in the cards after his last two seasons.

24 of 30

Detroit Pistons: 300/1

Detroit Pistons: 300/1
Tim Fuller / USA Today Sports Images

It was a rough year for Detroit, who struggled to score points and finished four games out in the playoff race. Top scorer Tobias Harris does give the organization a young player to build around, and the Pistons also have the 12th pick in the draft.

25 of 30

New York Knicks: 300/1

New York Knicks: 300/1
Brad Penner / USA Today Sports Images

Carmelo Anthony has probably played his last game for the Knicks, and Derrick Rose is a free agent. Regardless, the Knicks are clearly Kristaps Porzingis' team going forward and a long way from Eastern Conference contention.

26 of 30

Charlotte Hornets: 400/1

Charlotte Hornets: 400/1

Led by point guard Kemba Walker, the Hornets won only 36 games but had a positive point differential for the season. They're hoping to add an impact player with the 11th pick in the draft.

27 of 30

Phoenix Suns: 750/1

Phoenix Suns: 750/1
Joe Camporeale / USA Today Sports Images

The Suns have a budding star in Devin Booker, who averaged 22.1 points per game in only his second NBA season. With the fourth pick in the draft, they could add another high-impact youngster, though it remains to be seen if making the playoffs is a realistic goal after winning only 24 games.

28 of 30

Brooklyn Nets: 1000/1

Brooklyn Nets: 1000/1
Nicole Sweet / USA Today Sports Images

The outlook for the Nets couldn't be any worse with a league-worst 20 wins this season and the Boston's 27th overall pick in the draft instead of the first overall. It remains to be seen what the Nets are capable of doing this offseason with a roster led by Brook Lopez and Jeremy Lin.

29 of 30

Orlando Magic: 1000/1

Orlando Magic: 1000/1
Mike Dinovo / USA Today Sports Images

The Magic is overhauling the front office after another disappointing season, winning only 29 games. The team does have the valuable sixth overall pick in the draft and could lose pending free agent Serge Ibaka. Center Nikola Vucevic has become likely the most valuable trade chip.

30 of 30

Sacramento Kings: 1000/1

Sacramento Kings: 1000/1

The Kings are in full rebuilding mode but without a clear direction after moving DeMarcus Cousins during the season. Current top scorer Rudy Gay is likely to test free agency this offseason, leaving second-year player Buddy Hield, whom they received in the Cousins deal, as their top returning scorer.
