According to Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch, Ohio State will award Los Angeles Lakers superstar and Ohio native LeBron James an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree.
James will receive a Doctor of Public Service degree for his basketball career and off-the-court impact.
“Born in Akron, Ohio, LeBron Raymone James Sr. is a professional basketball player with a dedication to community engagement and improving the lives of children and families through education, opportunities, and community resources. Just as he’s elevated the game of basketball, LeBron has redefined philanthropy to create a revolutionary model for community building in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.”
James has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers twice. He guided the franchise to its lone championship in 2016.
The leading scorer in NBA history, James has done a lot of charity work in Ohio, most notably the I PROMISE school.
James is arguably the best player in NBA history. He’s a four-time MVP, a four-time Finals MVP and a four-time champion.
James is the only player in NBA history to rank top five all-time in points and assists.
The 40-year-old James has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists with the Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Lakers.
