On Wednesday, the Oklahoma City Thunder eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves in a dominating fashion. The Thunder did not hold back in Game 5 as they had a 124-94 victory to send the Wolves home. All-Star guard and NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 34 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals. The star guard shot a very efficient 56 percent from the field in the final game of the Western Conference finals.
The Thunder were off to a blazing start and contained the Wolves to just nine points in the first quarter. At halftime, OKC had a 65-32 lead. They didn’t give any breathing room for Minnesota as they racked up nine steals after the first two quarters. The team’s defense hounded the Anthony Edwards-led group.
After the game, the Thunder celebrated their win on their way to the NBA Finals. The Western Conference finals MVP was awarded to Gilgeous-Alexander for his impressive outing through five games.
“It’s a really good feeling,” SGA said. “It’s the stuff you dream about as a kid.
He thanked the fans for sticking with the organization through the dark times during his first few years. Secondly, he gave a shoutout to his teammates for helping him in the playoff run.
“I want to thank my teammates. Without them, I’m nothing. Clear as day. I don’t have 124 points by myself. I love these guys to death.

However, SGA knows that there’s still more work the Thunder should do before they can get comfortable.
“This is the step in the right direction but we have a lot more work to do, we know that and that’s what we’re focused on.”
The Oklahoma City Thunder is the first team to advance to the Finals. They’ll have to wait to see which team, between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks, will win the Eastern Conference finals.
It’s been a long time since the Oklahoma City Thunder emerged as the best team in the Western Conference. The last time was in 2012, with a young core of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Since then, the organization has tried its best to build a competitive squad.
After the victory, head coach Mark Daigneault and Executive Vice President & General Manager Sam Presti shared an embrace.
