Oklahoma City Thunder Strengthen 2024-25 Squad in Keeping Isaiah Joe to Multi-Year Deal
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

There’s little doubt in anyone’s mind that the Oklahoma City Thunder are among the most exciting teams to watch in the NBA right now. Sam Presti has shown everyone how brilliant he is in turning a dead-end team with Russell Westbrook at the core into a young team with a bright future.

The centerpiece of the entire OKC roster is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Canadian guard has blossomed into a fantastic two-way star headlining his country’s men’s basketball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

SGA isn’t the only standout contributor for the Thunder this season. Chet Holmgren put up a fantastic rookie campaign and would have won Rookie of the Year if it wasn’t for Victor Wembanyama . Lou Dort and Cason Wallace were also solid contributors.

Presti isn’t only satisfied with drafting talent. He’s also keen to acquire it through trade or free agency. Josh Giddey was shipped off to the Chicago Bulls for Alex Caruso. They also acquired a solid big man in Isaiah Hartenstein.

When Thunder fans think their GM is done with his work, his more recent move will bring assured smiles to their faces.

Isaiah Joe extends stay with Oklahoma City Thunder after signing new long-term deal

Isaiah Joe has been a terrific role player for the Thunder since moving on from the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s turned into a reliable outlet on the three-point line whenever defenses react to SGA or Chet attract help defenses.

Mike Daigneault liked his performance in his second year with the team so much that he recommended a contract extension for the Arkansas product.

NBA insider Shams Charania first broke the news:

Joe played 78 games for the Thunder last season, averaging 8.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 45.8% shooting and 41.6% from deep. He even kept his value for the Thunder in the postseason, making 1.6 three-pointers a game.

He’ll be a valuable addition for any team needing reliable three-point shooting, and the Oklahoma City Thunder fans would be glad that they have Joe for longer.
