The San Antonio Spurs must have one of the largest Latino fan bases in the NBA. For starters, they are located in Texas, home to many Latinos. They had the greatest Latino player ever on their roster for 16 years, helping them win four championships.

The Spurs have always embraced diversity and brought in players from different nationalities. Hell, their new superstar is from France, and the team constantly tries to celebrate everybody regardless of background.

During their playoff-clinching win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, a woman was caught sending racist messages about Hispanic fans.

“A lot of crazy hispanic fans,” the lady texted to somebody named “Chris,” followed by “All Hispanic! How can they afford it.”

Facebook page “SPURS Uncensored” shared the video, which was originally posted by TikTok user @inluvwganineee.

San Antonio Spurs Respond After Video Showed Fan Sending Anti-Hispanic Texts

It seems like this person didn’t get the “Por Vida” (for life) memo at the San Antonio Spurs game. The team often celebrates San Antonio’s Hispanic population. They issued a statement to remind fans that they embrace the Latino community and want to provide them a healthy environment.

“All of u sin the Spurs organization are proud to live in San Antonio, a city that shines and thrives of the culture and contributions of our Latino community,” the team said. “Inclusion is a foundation for the San Antonio Spurs. We strive to provide an environment, in our facilities and across our community, that celebrates belonging and respect regardless of race or ethnicity. Por Vida.”

The Spurs improved to 58-12 with that win, clinching a playoff berth. They will return to action on Saturday against the Indiana Pacers. Hopefully, people leave their bigotry and racism outside the arena.
