Goldin, an internationally renowned auction house known for rare and record-breaking collectible sales, today opened its 2026 Photography Auction, running March 13 through April 4. The auction presents 100 valuable photographs spanning sports, culture, and historical events. In addition, it offers collectors museum-quality imagery tied to some of the most recognizable figures and moments of the past century.
The auction is led by a remarkable 1984 Michael Jordan PSA Type I Original Photo. It was taken by Nike photographer Chuck Kuhn, captured immediately after the now-iconic “Skyline” image used for the world-famous Jumpman logo. The photo features the same outfit, same sweatband, same basket, and same ball. Meanwhile, the never-before-seen Type I provides a rare glimpse into the early visual creation of one of the most recognizable athletic brands in history.
Back in 1984, Jordan shot a promotional photo with Nike for the release of the Air Jordan 1. The ‘skyline’ image shows Jordan soaring through the air with the Jumpman logo. The photo shows Jordan posing on the basketball court holding the ball. The Air Jordan 1 is draped over his shoulder.
