Apparently, all it took was a stern talk from the father of Tyrese Haliburton to get Indiana Pacers shooting guard Buddy Hield to break the record for the fastest three-pointer in the play-by-play era.
Before a recent game, Haliburton's father -- John -- approached Hield and vehemently advised him to "shoot the ball" and "stop dribbling." The younger Haliburton evidently has tried talking with Hield about this multiple times before, but it took the interaction with his father to get through to him.

Hield leads the NBA this season in three-pointers made with 137 and is shooting 50.9% from beyond the arc in December. The Oklahoma product finished Thursday's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers with 25 points (5-for-6 on three-pointers) with three rebounds, three assists and two steals, while hitting his first shot from distance just three seconds into the contest to break Reggie Miller's 22-year-old record.
Haliburton -- who is cousins with former three-time All-Star Eddie Jones -- is seventh in the NBA in three-pointers with 106 and leads the league in assists per game at 10.2. Both Haliburton and Hield were traded to the Pacers in February as a part of a blockbuster deal that sent All-Star Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings.
