Pacers reportedly relieved over Tyrese Haliburton MRI
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Things looked pretty bad when Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton went down with a hamstring injury in Monday’s home win over the Celtics.

And they’re not great — but perhaps not as bad as they could be.

Indiana announced that Haliburton suffered a left hamstring strain, without offering a timetable for his return. But per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, “there is undeniable relief in Indianapolis that the diagnosis was only a left hamstring strain.”

He is expected to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

In other words, yeah, it could’ve been worse. So maybe he will be back in action before many expected. That could only be considered good news for the Pacers, one of five teams in the Eastern Conference that stand at 21-15 (entering Tuesday night).

Haliburton, 23, is averaging 23.6 points and a whopping 12.5 assists in 33 games this season. He is the cousin of former NBA wing Eddie Jones.
