It has been a busy offseason thus far around the NBA as teams are trying to upgrade their roster to compete for a championship next season.
One team that has been one of the busiest thus far is the Phoenix Suns as they have begun to retool their roster around Devin Booker after missing the playoffs last season.
Of course, the Suns started the offseason by trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and they then made a trade with the Charlotte Hornets on draft night to acquire Mark Williams.
They then selected Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the 2025 NBA Draft before making more move sin free agency that saw them sign Collin Gillespie to a new deal and land Nigel Hayes-Davis from the Euroleague.
While the Suns have been busy this summer, one of their former players has stolen the headlines in free agency.
That player is 2018 first overall pick Deandre Ayton who is now a free agent after he and the Portland Trail Blazers agreed to a contract buyout.
With Ayton now being a free agent, he has generated interest from many teams around the NBA, including the Los Angeles Lakers, but an Eastern Conference team has also emerged as a potential landing spot according to a recent report.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Indiana Pacers are showing interest in Ayton.

Of course, Fischer’s report came out on Wednesday, a day after the Pacers lost Myles Turner to the Milwaukee Bucks as he signed a four-year deal with their East rival.
With Turner now gone, the Pacers are in desperate need of a new starting center and they have shifted their focus to Ayton.
Ayton had a great start to his NBA career with the Suns but after they sent him to Portland in 2023, he has struggled on the court and with injuries.
Despite this, a change of scenery could be a massive help for the former No. 1 overall pick but the Pacers will have to outbid the Lakers and other teams to sign the 26-year-old big man this summer with him set to clear waivers on Wednesday night.
