The Pacers are adding frontcourt help.
Indiana plans to sign forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to a 10-day contract under the hardship exception, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Pacers qualify because they’re basically the league’s emergency room right now.
Tyrese Haliburton is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles.
T.J. McConnell (hamstring) is out. Kam Jones (back) is out. Bennedict Mathurin (toe) is out. Andrew Nembhard (shoulder) is out. Johnny Furphy (foot) is out.
And Obi Toppin just had foot surgery and is out three months.
That’s seven rotation guys sidelined.
Robinson-Earl appeared in 66 games for the Pelicans last season and averaged 6.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 18.8 minutes.
He signed with Dallas on an Exhibit 9 this summer but was waived before opening night.
Jason Kidd spoke highly of him in camp.
“He should be on an NBA roster,” Kidd said. “He’s consistent. He can shoot, he can pass, he can defend.”
Indiana’s giving him that shot, at least temporarily.
