The Pacers are waiving guard Duane Washington and waiving and stretching the contracts of forwards Juwan Morgan and Malik Fitts, and guard Nik Stauskas, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Morgan, Stauskas and Fitts were all acquired as part of the Pacers’ Malcolm Brogdon trade with the Celtics.

The moves are being made to allow the Pacers the necessary salary-cap space to sign Deandre Ayton to a maximum offer sheet, per Wojnarowski. Indiana offered the Suns restricted free agent the largest offer sheet in NBA history at four years and $133 million, Wojnarowski reported.

Washington, 22, is 6-foot-3 and showed plenty of promise as a rookie after going undrafted out of Ohio State in 2021. He averaged 9.9 points in 48 games last season, shooting 41 percent from the field.
