Patrick Beverley Slams Dwyane Wade Over 'Dumbest' Comments on Criticism

Are we living in a time when Dwyane Wade and Patrick Beverley are beefing? It certainly appears to be so. Shortly after Wade fired back at Beverley with a “never as good as me,” Beverley renewed his attack against the NBA legend.

Responding to Wade’s comments that Pat Bev was not qualified to have a conversation about him because he wasn’t as good as he was, Beverley painted the Miami Heat legend’s comment as ‘dumb.’

“He lost me when he said if you’re not better than me, you can’t speak on it,” Beverley said on Tuesday. “By that logic, the only person who can talk about you, Dwyane Wade, is either Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant if you are the No. 3 greatest shooting guard of all time. That’s the dumbest s*** I’ve ever heard.”

The back-and-forth between former NBA players began when Beverley claimed that James Harden was a better player than Wade. He added spikes in his comments, adding that Wade was not even close to Harden.

“James Harden is a better player than Dwyane Wade,” Beverley said. “And people get it confused because they think about D-Wade won a championship and you can’t take that away, but a championship is a team thing. That’s a team award. I’m talking about individual awards…I don’t even think it’s close.”

Wade is a three-time champion and an NBA Finals MVP. But he has rarely responded to comparisons before. But he took exception to Beverley’s comments.

“I don’t understand how you can have a conversation about me and state facts when you’re never as good as me,” Wade said. “Pat Bev just came out and just talked about me and James. Another conversation about me and James.”

“Don’t you ever fix your mouth to say somebody is better than me when you weren’t better than me at anything in this game of basketball. You can’t do that.”

However, Beverley continued to back his claim and even took a shot at the Heat legend.

Beverley threw another barrage of arguments to back his claim. In a long soliloquy, the former NBA player listed his former Rockets teammate’s regular-season achievements.

“They called me delusional. They call me crazy. They call me stupid. It’s the funniest thing in the world. So again, I’m only going to speak on facts.”

Beverley went on to highlight that Harden had won the MVP award, something Wade never did, and had more scoring and assists titles than Wade. He also has more total points, rebounds, assists, steals, and All-NBA 1st Team selections over his career than Wade. The Heat legend was only ahead of Harden in career blocks.

“Now, these are all facts. Now, if I was to read this whole list backwards, in reverse to all the viewers out there, if I said James Harden as Dwyane Wade and then said, yeah, James Harden is the best player, y’all would look at me crazy.”

Beverley is not wrong. However, it seems like he’s being selective in his take. Wade had a far more successful career than Harden.‌ He is a three-time NBA champion, a Finals MVP, and the second-best player on one of the best teams in NBA history.
