Fans have been calling for a change at the top, and now it looks like the Dallas Mavericks are preparing to part ways with Nico Harrison.
The “Fire Nico” chants have not gone away. In fact, they have become almost routine during games, even breaking out while Mavs players are shooting free-throws.
Those calls only got louder after a 116-114 home defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks dropped Dallas to 3-8 on the season and left them near the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
Now, Harrison’s time as general manager looks like it is coming to an end as he is set to be fired by the franchise.
According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the Dallas Mavericks are preparing to part ways with their general manager.
Posting on X, he said: “The Dallas Mavericks and owner Patrick Dumont are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison at a 10 am central time meeting on Tuesday, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon.”

MacMahon had previously reported that Dumont stepped into a conversation about Anthony Davis’ fitness, suggesting a lack of trust in Harrison’s ability to handle team decisions.
He had also mentioned earlier that there was growing speculation across the league about how much longer Harrison would remain in his role.
Harrison’s unfortunate choice to trade Luka Doncic proved to be the franchise-altering decision.
Before making that move, he was praised for helping build a contender, one that reached the Finals in 2024.
But sending Doncic to the Lakers was a risk that backfired badly, with the Mavericks only dealing with one team and getting little in return.
He also signed off on another questionable deal soon after, trading Quentin Grimes for Caleb Martin.
Both trades have clearly worked against the Mavericks, with Doncic playing at an MVP level with the Lakers this season.
Dumont has clearly and understandably given up on the general manager, despite Harrison’s insistence that his ‘vision’ was the key to turning the Mavericks into champions.
