The Clippers reached a long-term agreement with star forward Kawhi Leonard, signing him to a contract extension on Wednesday.
Now, they are trying to lock up their other star forward. Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Clippers are in ongoing talks with Paul George on a contract extension as well.
George, 33, has had a season of relative good health and remained on the court — just as Leonard has. That and the addition of high-scoring guard James Harden has people finally believing the Clippers are a true contender.
George is averaging 23.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists, shooting 46 percent from the field and 41 percent on 3-pointers, in 34 games.
Both Leonard and George have $48.7M player options for next season. https://t.co/RBhbzDSPc2
