Two former LA Clippers stars are apparently not fond of one another.
On the latest episode of his show “Podcast P,” Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George spoke out about his beef with San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul. George said that he used to have a close relationship with Paul, but that changed when Paul used objectionable language towards him while on the basketball court.
“It’s one thing, you build a relationship, then you get on the court, and you start saying wild s–t,” George said. “Like, damn, have you always felt this way? … He hurt my feelings with that. I thought we was tighter than that. And then we get between these lines and certain words were thrown out that I didn’t expect from you.
“The CP situation … I would work out with CP in the summers,” added George of Paul. “We were working out together. And it was a brotherhood that I thought was with CP … Then we get into the series, and the words get thrown out there. ‘Hold on, like what? Where did this come from?’ … We had a moment this year where we started mouthing off, and the words were thrown out there again. It is what it is. It’s up every time I see him. It is what it is at this point.”
George also said that he used to speak with Paul all the time (as the two shared an agency, CAA Sports) and that he even got LASIK surgery on the recommendation of a doctor from Paul. You can watch the full clip below (but watch out for the bad language).

The nine-time All-Star George, who has never been teammates with Paul during his NBA career, appeared to be referencing the 2021 Western Conference Finals series between the Clippers (George’s then-team) and the Phoenix Suns (Paul’s then-team). During that series, which the Suns won in six games, the two players had multiple heated on-court moments with one another.
There have also been instances in the past of George and Paul snubbing each other on postgame handshakes. Now George, 35, is speaking out on why exactly his relationship with Paul, 40, has deteriorated.
